I don't know about you, but this time of year is always bittersweet for me. Bitter in a sense that I have to get back to reality from the holidays, but sweet because I get so inspired by the opportunities that the new year brings.
This past year, you have had your ups and you have definitely had your downs. But whatever they are, allow them to shape you. Instead of thinking about how heavy and trying this past year was, shift your focus to speak these fortunes over your new year, and your life:
1. I will expand my comfort zone
Too often do we do the usual. We wake up and do the same routine to get ready for the day. We take the same way to school or work. We go to the same places on the weekends. It's all the same. But your life will breed excitement and newness if you are to change even the smallest things. Take a different way to school or work. Plan a trip to a place you've never been before. Hang out with people outside of your age range. Try a different style of wardrobe or hair. Whatever you do, no matter if it's a big or small change, just expand your comfort zone. Your vision will widen, your journey will strengthen, and your smile will brighten.
2. I will be the best version of myself
Set your goals, and be extremely detailed about them. A lot of times we tend to do one of two things that can contribute to us not reaching our goals. First, we compare ourselves to other people. Second, we are not detailed with our goals. Leave these habits behind. If you want to save money this year, come up with a plan of action and set realistic timeframes. If you want to get back in the gym, create a plan for yourself and keep track of your progress. Don't rest on other people's progress as your motivator. We are all different and on a different path. We can't just speak things into existence anymore - there needs to be action taken. Let this be your best professional year. Let this be your best body year. Let this be your best emotional year. Each day is a new opportunity to be better than you were yesterday. Find
yourself and put your potential to work.
3. I will eliminate harmful energy
The company you keep in your life should be adding value and purpose to your life. You'll start to realize that you only have so many spaces in your life, and not everyone can fit. That's okay. Be sure you're taking time to eliminate the negativity around you. Sometimes this means cutting people out that are closest to you. It can be hard, it can be stressful, and it can be heavy. But it's VITAL for your growth. The older you get, the more you realize how important it is to prioritize your space. Understand the difference between life's inevitable happenings, and harmful energy around you. & know that you're in control of your reaction to both.
4. I will accept my growth
A major problem with today's society is that we paint pictures of other people's success in our heads and we try to reach them. That's not our path, and those should not be our goals. Success is self-defined. The path to get there is unique to you. How beautiful is it to know that we can do absolutely anything we set our minds to and are willing to work hard for? If we have limitless possibilities, why do we settle for what someone else has achieved for themselves instead of taking advantage of creating our own vision, path, and success? Take initiative in accepting yourself and your growth and watch how even your own goals change. Eyes on your own paper.
5. I will make my happiness theft-proof
Too often do we find ourselves searching for the approval of others. We've become so consumed in creating images of what we want people to see about us instead of just living to meet our own standards. Start becoming comfortable with everything that makes you happy - no matter if people accept it or not. Do things daily that put a smile on your face. If anyone tries to take your happiness away from you, make it impossible for them to fulfill. You are in total control of putting a
smile on your face every day, and you are the only person in the way from a happier life from now on.
Take time to create some more fortunes to speak over your life. I urge you to dig deep within you to speak words of growth, love, acceptance, positivity, and happiness to yourself each and every day. Whether it's a list of 10 compliments to yourself each day, or a simple "I love me" to start your day, make it a priority and watch your life change for the better. Time to get to work.
"The hardest times of our lives are when we are transitioning to a new version of ourselves." -Unknown
